Our Story

Reviving Four Generations of Family History

In 1880, Hans-Christian and Anna Bjornson immigrated to the United States and settled at the current homestead in Southern Minnesota in 1885. The family farmed through three generations - headed by Christian and Anna, Nels and Mable, and Curtis and Betty. The rise of large-acre and industrial farming practices squeezed small farmers out of business and Curtis retired the farm in 1992. Calvin, the son of Curtis, took care of the farm for nearly 30 years until 2020, when Calvin made the decision to hand it down to his sons - Christian and Aaron, who, in 2022, established Cobb Creek Revival Farm - named after the Little Cobb River that runs through it. 2025 will mark 140 years this farm has been in the family. We hope for 140 more!

The recent focus and support for small farmers provide an opportunity to reestablish connection with community and promote healthy lifestyles with nutritious food. In 2022, Christian and Aaron Bjornson, four generations later, decided to rebuild these connections to the local community and revive the family farm. Aaron started the revival process by restoring infrastructure and raising livestock. Aaron brought with him more than 20 years of sales and customer relations experience working in retail and service industries. In late 2022, Christian retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service and moved back to Minnesota to work alongside Aaron to help start Cobb Creek Revival Farm.

Modern farming practices have worn-out, eroded, and abused the land surrounding the homestead. Using nature as a pattern, Christian and Aaron began healing the farm. They are planting new trees, taking back tired and conventionally-tilled land, grazing livestock, building compost piles, installing irrigation ponds, and implementing portable sheltering systems to produce all their animals on perennial prairies.

Christian and Aaron's main goal is to create a premier non-industrial food production farm that provides healthy alternatives for the local community.
